A further tasting video this time of the Heron Valley Devon Dry Cider available as Bag in Box. These people have conquered the delivery charge obstacle by quoting a fixed price for a box of cider that includes the delivery charge instead of trying to add it on as an extra when you get to the checkout.
Opinions seem to vary from the most simplistic and traditional recipes which call for nothing but fresh apple juice left to ferment by itself, right up through the scientific methods of carefully micro measuring PH balance and adjusting sulphite levels accordingly to encourage a range of beneficial yeasts whilst discouraging the possibility of problems from other organisms which may be present in the workshop.
Then of course there is the industrial method which has nothing to do with a craft level cider workshop whatsoever. The big industrial producers philosophy for how to make cider is to use the smallest amount of apples they can get away with and then bulk out the product with cheap ingredients such as water and fermented corn syrup.
A cider workshop event is when people get together to learn about making cider, often accompanied by some practical hands on experience. You just need somebody to explain a bit about the cider making process and to bring along some apples and equipment to the cider workshop.
